In the modern class A and B buildings (homes and offices), the energy saving is obtained removing unwanted exchange of air with the outside (the so-called "air drafts") through the use of appropriate frame and windows. In these contexts, it is customary to install centralized ventilation systems which provide the necessary air exchange with the outside. The air is extracted from the building and replaced with fresh air from outside. During the exchange the air inside the building yields heat to the new air this is important to minimize the energy loss. The incoming air is filtered to remove pollen and dust. The ventilation systems also allow to control the level of moisture present in the air, avoiding the formation of mold or condensation, in particular in the situations where the cooling (during the summer) is obtained by radiant (floor or ceiling) panels systems.
Ventilation controlled systems are ideally suited to heating / cooling floor or radiant wall systems. The quantity of treated air from a ventilation system is considerably less than that "move" from a traditional air conditioning system, in a ratio of about one to ten. Inside the environments therefore the currents air are not perceptible and the dust transport is absent. The reduced plants flow also allows the use of a limited size input vents with a practically no visual impact.
